Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is the running mate to Atiku Abubakar who is The Peoples Democratic Party’s Presidential flag bearer in the 2023 general election.

A senior special assistant to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has resigned his position. Osheokwu Onochie who has served Governor Okowa for over 3 years as Senior Special Assistant on Youth Development decided to end his romance with the PDP’s running mate on Thursday.

The decision to dump Okowa and Atiku by Onochie was contained in a resignation letter currently circulating on social media.

In the letter dated September 6, 2022 and addressed to the governor through the secretary to the state government he said he was resigning to become fully ‘Obidient’. This means he is declaring his full support publicly for Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of Labour Party. Obidient is a popular term that has been adopted by Peter Obi’s supporters globally.

The letter reads in part:

“I wish to officially intimate your office of the resignation of my appointment as Senior Special Assistant on Youth Development with immediate effect.

My decision to resign is premised on moral and call of every Nigeria Youth for a new and better Nigeria, sir on this ground I have decided to be fully “Obidient” to their call so we work together to achieve a better new Nigeria”.

He however, thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve for over three years as Senior Special Assistant on Youth Development.
