PERSONAL PROFILE OF KACHI OGBONNA

Kachi Ogbonna is a  value driven entrepreneur  and renowned youth consultant, passionate and focused on driving societal values and dignity of mankind in alignment to entrepreneurship and business strategy. He has more than 12 years of experience working among youths, 7 years of been an active entrepreneur and a substantial portfolio of solutions delivered for the benefit of humanity.

His career has taken him through the banking sector, telecommunications, training and consulting and NGOs. He has researched over 150 companies in Nigeria, seeking for the common denominator for all the successful brands across different sectors. He has had the good fortune of sitting for business reviews with top MDs and business leaders including Rajiv Sharma, Prof. Pat Utomi, Ben Bruce and many more.

BACKGROUND

Kachi Ogbonna also known as Ogbonna Onyekachi Ogbonna hails from Ufuegbu, Ugwu Odida, Onicha, in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. He was born into the family of Chief Anthony and Elder (Mrs) Eunice Ogbonna on September 27, 1983. His father was a petty trader and his mother a peasant farmer. Kachi is the 6th child in a family of 7; 6 boys and one girl.

Though the parents were not rich in terms of monetary acquisition. But they were rich in terms of morals and value orientation. He was introduced to God early enough through the ministry of Scripture Union Nigeria. The parents taught him and his siblings the importance of telling the truth in all tings and being contented with whatever they have. Those values still guides Kachi anywhere he goes till date.

EARLY EDUCATION

Kachi Ogbonna had his primary education in Onicha Central School, Onicha. After which he proceeded for his secondary education at Onicha Model Secondary Technical School, Onicha. Though his early education was in village schools where the quality of education is nothing to write home about yet his personal efforts and commitment to learning meant he was performing above average.

Kachi as a student was a shinning light among his peers in all aspect. He represented his school in several academic competitions including Cowbell Mathematics Competition both in junior and senior category.

Kachi Sat for Senior School Certificate Examination in 2003 where he cleared all his papers in one sitting. After that he participated in the very first Post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination conducted in Nigeria in 2005. Through that examination Kachi got admission on merit to study Electrical Electronic Engineering in the prestigious Federal University of Technology Owerri.

PROFESSIONAL CAREER

Kachi  Ogbonna started his career as a Business Support Officer with Central Bank of Nigeria Sokoto Branch during his compulsory one year National Youth Service. As a Cops Member he rendered so many community service to his state of service. Some of them includes serving as the State President of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). He also displayed his entrepreneurial prowess by emerging as the State first runner up of CBN/NYSC Joint Venture (check Batch C No 86 on the list)- a grant competition for enterprising Corps Members.

After his NYSC Kachi volunteered one year to serve as a full time School Visitor with Scripture Union Nigeria Lagos Area.  Within this period Kachi had the opportunity of ministering to young people across several Secondary School in Lagos.

In November 2013 Kachi took up an appointment in i-Skill Limited as a Business Development Officer. It was in i-Skill under the tutelage of Mr. Rajiv Sharma that he honed his business development skills.

Still in quest for greater learning and depth of knowledge Kachi enrolled as a Platinum Member of CVL Mentorship programme. It was a great opportunity to work closely with Prof. Pat Utomi who would later shaped his business philisophy and became a shoulder upon which Kachi stood to impact his world.

Kachi also had a brief stint with Telnet Nigeria Plc where he worked as a Field Engineer with Telnet Network Services before he finally ventured fully into entrepreneurship in 2016.

VENTURING FULL-TIME INTO ENTREPRENEURSHIP

In 2016 Kachi’s love and passion for entrepreneurship led him to register HTS Business School. It is an innovative entrepreneurship development center with a focus on helping SMEs acquire the necessary skills and resources needed to make the transition to a global brand. Since inception the school has trained and empowered several young people in business. In fact as a testimony to the credibility and excellent performance of the school CBN licenced it as an official EDI for AGSMEIS loan in 2019.

Kachi Ogbonna is known for his eyes for opportunities. Where others see problem Kachi usually see opportunity and that further manifested in 2017 when together with his wife Mrs. Onyinyechi Ogbonna they discovered a gap in the intracity transport sector in Imo State, Nigeria and rather than join others to complain they saw it as an opportunity. That opportunity led to the starting of HTS Shuttle Services. It is an innovative Transport Company they started without a cent. They were able to fund the idea through investors that ought into the idea. And within 14 months the business grew from 5 buses to 40 buses employing over 40 staff. In fact the HTS Shuttle Service Idea is now a case study for business funding in business schools.

Kachi has also founded and co-founded a few other companies like Young Investors and Entrepreneurs Network (YIENET), Myunihostels.com, HTS Prevarsity, HTS Waste Management Services etc.

He is a regular guest on several radio stations. Some of the stations he has featured includes Raypower FM, Eko FM, Radio Lagos and Nigerian Info. In those shows he offers expert advice on how government can tackle the economic and unemployment challenges facing the country. He has also featured in several national dailies including This Day, Guardian, National Mirror and Business Day.

A think-tank that never run out of ideas, an experienced teacher and a trainer. Dedicated and honest with strong collaborative style, very good at motivating, transferring knowledge and working with high performance teams.

Kachi is equally passionate about helping Nigerian youths discover and maximize their potentials. He runs a monthly Leadership Coaching and teaching sessions in Port Harcourt, Owerri, Umuahia and Lagos. This is aimed at helping individuals (majorly undergraduates and fresh graduates) discover, develop and maximize their potentials.  The sessions often accompanied with serious mindstorming, brainstorming and role plays provides unique perspectives, breakthrough insights and actionable advice on leadership, entrepreneurship and career building.

OTHERS

Kachi is also a practising christian. He has served served humanity in different Christian formations. Kachi is currently a Zonal Rep with Scripture Union Nigeria, Owerri East Zone. He is also the Secretary of Men Christian Association of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria Owerri Parish. This is in addition to so many other positions he has held for the benefit of mankind.
